Mozart's Serenade

Mostly Mozart

Details

An hour of wonderful music and the chance to catch up with friends over a cup of tea.

Classical masterpieces performed by the orchestra of the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and acclaimed guest artists.

Mozart’s dignified Serenade in D for strings and timpani opens an exciting program of musical gems. ‘Serenata Notturna’ illustrates Mozart’s keen sensitivity to balance and colour and reflects his lively and unfailing imagination. Stravinsky’s popular ballet work Pulcinella about the philandering young Pulcinella is a colourful romp by the Russian master, and Mozart new-look is a short bubbly work composed by Jean Françaix based on Mozart’s Don Giovanni, another well-known philanderer. Matthew McDonald, Australian-born principal double bassist of the Berlin Philharmonic, leads this sparkling opening concert.
