The Chennai Tapes (the latest chapter of Into the Fire) celebrates more than a decade of collaboration between the artists. These original works, built on the South Indian Carnatic tradition and interpreted by musicians who figure among Australia's leading jazz players, were premiered in India in 2008. Highlights of that ground-breaking tour were concerts at the Mysore ashram of His Holiness Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji; at Chennai's prestigious Indian Academy of Music; and, at the Lalitha Kalathoranam in Hyderabad.

Leaders of the Sruthi Laya Ensemble and AAO, Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani and Paul Grabowsky, join the musicians under the musical direction of Adrian Sherriff a gifted, multi-instrumentalist and former student of Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani.
