If you have attended performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre, we hope you share our enthusiasm for its unique clarity of sound, warm intimacy and diverse concert program.
The transformative power of music you’ve experienced in the Centre’s beautiful performance spaces is a special gift that I invite you to share with those less fortunate through a donation to Share the Music.
This ticket and transport subsidy program for disadvantaged children and adults is supported entirely by donations from our regular concert-goers. Since it began in 2010, 578 children and adults have attended 10 different concerts through the program.
I encourage you to consider making a donation now because we have a wonderful opportunity to double the impact of your gift.
One of our generous benefactors, Annamila Pty Ltd has agreed to match every Share the Music gift received before 30 June 2012, up to a total of $50,000*. This means that for every dollar you donate, Annamila will contribute another dollar, giving us double the amount of money to provide tickets and transport for disadvantaged people to attend Recital Centre concerts.
We work with a number of not-for-profit organisations such as Wintringham Housing, Wombat Housing & Social Services, the Choir of Hope and Inspiration, VicAids, Berry Street and in 2011, targeted Victorian regional primary schools in Alberton and Corio. Our Share the Music guests have enjoyed a range of wonderful music from the classical orchestral concerts in the Mostly Mozart series to new works commissioned especially for children like The Snowman and Musical Picture Books.
Please take a moment to review the brochure and donation form. By sending your gift before to 30 June you can help us take advantage of this wonderful matching grant opportunity that will benefit so many members of our community who could never afford to attend otherwise.
I hope you will Share the Music with us this year and I look forward to welcoming you back to the Melbourne Recital Centre again soon.
Yours sincerely,
Mary Vallentine AO
