Taxis

The Sturt Street entrance of Melbourne Recital Centre is the safest place for taxis to pick up and drop off customers. Melbourne Recital Centre staff can assist with hailing taxis.

Public Transport

Trams

The nearest tram stop is Stop 16 - (Southbank Boulevard/St Kilda Road) located in front of the National Gallery of Victoria. This is a platform tram stop providing level access to low floor trams, passenger shelter and protection from traffic. Melbourne Recital Centre is a short walk down Southbank Boulevard (approximately 200 metres). This stop is serviced by routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67, 72.

Train

From Flinders Street station, catch any tram heading south along St Kilda road and alight at the Stop 16 (Southbank Boulevard/St Kilda Road). Melbourne Recital Centre is a short walk down Southbank Boulevard (approximately 200 metres).

Bus

Melbourne Bus Link operates three routes along Southbank Boulevard: Route 216, 219 and 220.
The free Melbourne City Tourist Shuttle runs in a loop through Melbourne's CBD every 15 minutes, and stops at the corner of Southbank Blvd and Kavanagh Street (Stop 10). For more information please go to www.thatsmelbourne.com.au and click on the tourist shuttle logo.

Parking

Patrons can choose from a variety of conveniently located car parks when attending events at Melbourne Recital Centre. A new parking station is being built immediately behind the Melbourne Recital Centre (enter from Sturt Street), complementing other facilities already established in the Southbank Arts Precinct, including:

  • Arts Centre Melbourne Car Park (enter from Sturt Street) - 150 metres north along Sturt Street (p: 03 9281 8012)
  • The Australian Ballet Centre Car Park (2 Kavanagh Street) - 150 metres north along Sturt Street, then left into Kavanagh Street
  • Australian National Car Parks (Sturt St, next to ABC) - 100 metres south along Sturt Street (p: 03 9682 4012)
  • plus a number of smaller car parks along Sturt Street.

Disabled Access parking and parking for motorcycles are available at all major car parks in the vicinity, including Arts Centre Melbourne Car Park and The Australian Ballet Centre Car Park.

Ticketholders are eligible for a $2 discount at The Australian Ballet Centre Car Park (only from 4pm, Monday to Saturday, by showing the attendant their performance tickets). Parking is subject to availability and patrons are encouraged to arrive early on busy nights.

 

Dropping Off/Picking Up

The safest place to pick up and drop off passengers is the Sturt Street entrance of Melbourne Recital Centre, away from the Sturt St / Southbank Boulevard intersection.
