2020 & 2021: Anna Goldsworthy

Acclaimed pianist, writer and festival director Anna Goldsworthy is Melbourne Recital Centre’s Artist & Writer-in-Residence in 2020 and 2021.

As a pianist, Anna performs extensively throughout Australia and internationally. An accomplished chamber musician, Anna is a founding member of Seraphim Trio. As a writer, Anna was awarded Newcomer of the Year at the 2010 Australian Book Industry Awards for her debut memoir, Piano Lessons. Anna’s writing for the stage includes the libretto for Victorian Opera’s award-winning production of The Magic Pudding; her acclaimed adaptation of Piano Lessons, commissioned by the Queensland Music Festival; the play, Maestro, co-written with her father, Peter Goldsworthy; and the cabaret show Cole for Michael Griffiths, for which he won a Helpmann Award.

Anna’s residency includes performances with Seraphim Trio, and violinist Andrew Haveron; a talk/performance of excerpts from her new novel Melting Moments; and a creative workshop on a new work looking at the complex relationship of Chopin and George Sand.
