Between two parts there is an intermission of a hundred thousand years.

Moving between two performance spaces, Speak Percussion herald the opening of the Metropolis New Music Festival with a program of world premieres.

Video projections, suspended objects and electronics are combined with shifting instrumentations and audience orientations for each work.

Melbourne’s award winning champions of new music present three commissions inspired by the moving image by some of the nation’s best emerging composers, Jeanette Olivia Little, Peter de Jager and Alexander Garsden.

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Speak Percussion

Peter de Jager
Fractured Timelines

Alexander Garsden
Messages to Erice I & II

Jeanette Little
No Optic

This event is presented in a processional style where the artists and audience members begin on the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage for Peter de Jager’s Fractured Timelines, then move to the stalls of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall for Alexander Garsden’s Messages to Erice I & II and finish the evening by travelling to the intimate Salon for Jeanette Little’s No Optic.

Please note, this event is general admission with limited seating and standing room available. Our Front of House team will be on-hand during the concert to guide you between venues and help make the most of your experience.
