The Necks

‘The Necks shine in the pristine environment of Melbourne Recital Centre.’ The Age

Melbourne Recital Centre is delighted to welcome back one of the most distinctive and enthralling groups in music – The Necks in their 30th anniversary year.

The hard-earned, almost telepathic rapport that Chris Abrahams, Lloyd Swanton and Tony Buck have developed over the past 30 years is truly one of the most compelling in live music and it is with much anticipation that this formidable group is welcomed to the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.

Featuring mesmerising pieces that slowly unravel and insistent deep grooves, the deceptive simplicity of their music throws forth new charms on each hearing. Not entirely avant-garde, nor minimalist, nor ambient, nor jazz, the music of The Necks is unique in the world today.

Join us in the Ground Floor Foyer following the performance for a CD signing with The Necks.

The air of anticipation that greets The Necks every time they step on stage in Melbourne was subtly amplified on this tour, in keeping with the grandeur of the venue they were gracing for the first time. Swapping their annual three-night run at the Corner Hotel for a single show at the Recital Centre, the trio attracted a sell-out crowd of fans keen to hear the band in such a pristine acoustic environment.
