Inventi Ensemble

Art of Fugue Reinvented

Inventi Ensemble are masters of classical repertoire, re-inventors of past works, and performers of the new.

This dynamic new chamber ensemble run by artistic directors Ben Opie (oboe) and Melissa Doecke (flute), collaborates with Australia’s finest soloists and chamber musicians. Inventi musicians have performed at BBC Proms, London’s Southbank, at music festivals globally, pop-up venues and community spaces. Passionate about regularly performing Australian music, Inventi Ensemble have commissioned many new works making them an exciting new voice in Australian music.

After Inventi Ensemble’s success in arranging both J.S. Bach’s ‘Goldberg’ Variations and Prokofiev’s ‘Classical’ Symphony, the Ensemble now undertakes the challenge of arranging J.S. Bach’s Art of Fugue for flute, oboe, violin, viola and cello. Inventi’s arrangements not only stay as true to the original as possible, but also highlight new voices that both keyboard, organ or even string ensembles are unable to achieve because of the unique combination of winds and strings together.
