The luxurious taste of a familiar song will always be celebrated – but what of the ones that didn’t quite make it?
Lauded composers like Gershwin, Arlen and Porter have hundreds of songs to their names, but you may not realise that not all of their compositions have become gems over time. Award-winning international jazz vocalist, Fem Belling, delves deep into the Great American Songbook, beyond the popular favourites we all know and love.
The West End leading lady with a spectacular breadth of range unearths and brings to life those oft-forgotten, unsung melodies of Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, Richard Rogers, Lorenz Hart, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin and others. A collection songs that may have misfired, this program will be a fascinating sonic journey into the melodic psychology of what makes a hit song.
