The Benaud Trio is one of Australia’s finest chamber ensembles. Formed in Melbourne in early 2005, pianist Amir Farid, violinist Lachlan Bramble and cellist Ewen Bramble have established themselves as formidable performers of the standard repertoire, works by Australian composers and music with a pop/jazz influence.
Apart from their regular appearances at Melbourne Recital Centre and Elder Hall, Benaud Trio have performed in major international festivals in Adelaide and Perth and for Musica Viva in Hobart, Brisbane and Melbourne. The Trio are audience favourites on ABC Classic FM and have acclaimed albums on Melba Recordings.
Tuck yourself in for an unforgettable night of ghoulish delights. The scene is set by Bloch’s Three Nocturnes. At times ethereal and mesmerising, these short gems are always haunting and exotic. Legendary German modernist Wolfgang Rihm then takes you to strange and foreign places that only reveal themselves after dark. And whilst the joyous and generous melodies of Beethoven’s famous ‘Ghost’ trio linger in the ear, it is the terrifying slow movement that will leave an impression on your soul. A musical trick and treat not for the fainted hearted.
