J.S. Bach wrote only a few compositions for the lute, though hardly surprising given that lute playing was already in a period of decline.
Characterised by many keyboard-like qualities, these stylised dance suites have become quintessential music for the classical guitar. Bendigo-based Chilean guitarist Mauricio Carrasco brings his impeccable precision and expertise to an intimate performance of Bach’s lute suites.
A core member of Ensemble Vortex since its creation in 2005, Mauricio is an Artistic Associate and Guest Curator of the Bendigo International Festival of Exploratory Music, as well as a core member of its ensemble Argonaut. Mauricio Carrasco’s sparkling technique brings to life the melodic voice of Bach’s cycle of suites.
