Melbourne Youth Orchestra presents a program of homages by great German composers.
Melbourne Youth Orchestra continues its fiftieth birthday celebrations with a program of homages by great German composers.
The program opens with R. Strauss’ striking Vienna Philharmonic Fanfare, a work for large brass ensemble and timpani. Directed by guest conductor and MYO alumnus Paul Fitzsimon, the program continues with Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber, a colourful, exciting work loved by audiences.
Closing the program is Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D major. Dedicated to the violinist Joseph Joachim and composed in homage to Beethoven, it will be performed by soloist and MYO alumnus Michael Brooks Reid
