Melbourne Art Song Collective comprises some of Australia’s best known and loved artists and a selection of overseas musicians, drawn together by their shared love of song.
Their programs have been especially crafted to showcase the variety and richness of the art song tradition and selected masterpieces from the solo piano and chamber music repertoire. The Collective presents both popular and rarely-performed examples of art song, a genre rich in composers’ finest works. Pianist Eidit Golder’s collaborations with renowned international artists are keenly anticipated events, based around programs that are compelling and inviting.
The lives of Robert and Clara Schumann defined an age in music. The story of their tempestuous love affair, their musical partnership and Robert’s tragic fate is a myth at the heart of musical Romanticism, and is never far from the surface of their intensely autobiographical music.
