Speaking in Tongues features the rhythmically dynamic and intensely lyrical music of acclaimed Australian composer Tim Dargaville.
His compelling music draws equally from direct experience in the Indian vocal percussion tradition of konnakol and the rich languages of international contemporary music, creating a unique and distinctive musical sound world.
This program features evocative miniatures and extended works for piano solo and chamber ensemble including the world premiere of Dargaville’s 2014 Albert Maggs Award commission Between Breath and Word featuring renowned pianist Bernadette Harvey and musicians from the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music New Music Studio.
