Andrew Day (flute) and Timothy Young (piano) perform Duo Masterworks
Hailed by the Sydney Morning Herald as ‘Our Flawless Flautist’, Andrew Day came to national prominence when he won the ABC Symphony Australia Young Performers Awards.
A graduate of the prestigious Juilliard School in New York, he studied with the legendary late Julius Baker, former Principal Flute of the New York Philharmonic under Leonard Bernstein, who described him as ‘the most talented flutist I have ever heard.’ After an extended absence from the Recital Platform, Andrew Day returns with the world’s most revered flute, the 24K All Gold Muramatsu, which was handcrafted especially for him by the master craftsman, Hiroshi Aoki.
Andrew will be joined by one of Australia’s most prominent and versatile pianists, Timothy Young. An alumnus of the Nicolò Paganini Conservatorium in Genova, Italy, Timothy is presently Head of Piano and Chamber Music at ANAM. Andrew and Timothy will perform a demanding program of Duo Masterworks.
