Australian Youth Orchestra in Concert

AYO 2018.JPG

Under the baton of Dutch conductor Antony Hermus, hear the Australian Youth Orchestra perform Mendelssohn’s beloved The Hebrides Overture, portraying vivid memories of the composer’s travels to the remote Western Isles of Scotland.

The brilliant virtuosity of pianist Andrea Lam will shine through in Ravel’s exuberant Piano Concerto in G. Andrea made her orchestral debut with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra at age 13, and has since toured the world, being hailed for her ‘melting lyricism, filigree touch and spirited eloquence’ (The Australian).

As the concert draws to a close, experience the childlike dream of Mahler’s Symphony No.4 – the story of a child’s innocent imaginings of ‘the heavenly life’. In an outburst of song, soprano Penelope Mills brings this radiant work to its conclusion.
