DETAILS

Melbourne audiences will be treated to Frost’s fertile imagination when he performs in a visual collaboration with esteemed artist Marcel Weber aka MFO.

Ben Frost has cast a mercurial shadow over the electronic landscape for the better part of a decade, ever since pulling up stumps from his native Australia and laying roots in Iceland. Now the Melbourne-born experimental electronic composer returns home with his signature style of dense, incredibly visceral aural art created with electric guitars, electronics and chamber strings.

Since relocating abroad Frost has become a defining face in the post-classical, post-punk experimental scene, a prolific transmedia producer whose work has found connections seemingly in every possible venue and continent. Collaboration has been a cornerstone of his development, from work with dance (Chunky Move, Wayne McGregor) to human rights (Amnesty International) and he’s become a favourite of festival-goers for his evocative, cinematic sonic imagination and the way it pairs perfectly with visual reveries.

Now Frost joins the master visual artist of imagery, light and space, Marcel Weber, creating a transformative experience for the senses in a special audio-visual show – a feast for the eyes, ears and mind.

‘Ben Frost’s music is all about immersion and texture, so it’s no surprise that in his live performances he wants to induce the audience into a sort of state of shared catatonia.’ The 405
