Song Yang

Song Yang is the sheng solo performer of The Chinese Orchestra of China National Opera & Dance Drama Threatre, specially-appointed professor at Minzu University of China and National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. She is the first person who completed the master degree in sheng at China Conservatory of Music. She is also member of Chinese Musicians’ Association, director and sheng committee secretary of China Nationalities Orchestra Society, and consultant of Lusheng Research Association of Guizhou Musicians Association. She won the hightest prize of the 9th Sharq Taronalari (Melodies of the East) International Music Festival in Uzbekistan. She, as an artist, is recorded in the ‘Chinese Musician Dicitonary’.

Song is taught by the famous sheng artist Tang Fu, the sheng educator Zhang Zhiliang, and the wind instrument teaching director of China Conservatory of Music Professor Li Guanglu. She is often invited to be the judge of national and international competitions, such as ‘Jinlusheng’ Chinese Instrumental Music Competition. She has held many sheng solo concerts. In May 5, 2007, he premiered Liu Wenjin’s ‘Rainbow’, the 36 sheng concerto. Also, she has published a number of academic papers, for exam, ‘Female’s Historical Role in the Culture of Zheng’. Many of her students have won the International Chinese National Music Competition and the “Hong Fu’ Cup at the Chinse Sheng Culture International Arts Festival 2016. She has visited over thirty regions and countries and is recognised as the pioneer of Chinese contemporary young sheng musicians.
