Bo Miao

Renowned huqin musician, Bo Miao is the chief of China National Opera & Dance Drama Theater Chinese Music Orchestra, national class-A performer, experts of Ministry of Culture. He is the student of the renowned huqin master Liu Mingyuan. In 1976, he began to learn banhu, erhu, gaohu, jinghu and zhonghu from Mr. Liu Mingyuan. He performed solo or the lead player in many operas and dance dramas. His banhu and jinghu solo is deemed as the excellence of the theater.

He often performs in many big evening parties and concerts and wins high praises from experts and audiences. In 1993 he published his first banhu album. In 1986, when the Folk Music Association was established, he played solo in the suite ‘Beatiful Lady Yu’. In the first jinghu solo concert, his ‘Opera Color’ received high praises from experts. In the Large Chinese Folk Music Concert ‘The Years Are Like a Song’ in 2005, he not onlyperformed as the chief but also performed electric erhu and jinghu solo. He also served as chief in the Experimental Orchestra of Orchestra Chinese Music Orchestra Association and China-Japan-Korea Jointed Orchestra.

In 1993, He won the silver price in the ‘1st Osaka International Chamber Music Competition’ and won awards in various domestic and international important competitions.
