Increasingly regarded as the finest flautist and flute teacher Australia has produced, Andrew Day, ‘Our flawless flautist’ (Sydney Morning Herald) returns to Melbourne Recital Centre with The 24K Recital Series.

The series explores the uncharted territory of the world’s most revered flute, the 24K Gold Muramatsu, which was handcrafted especially for Andrew by the great Hiroshi Aoki.

‘Flute Fireworks!’ launches the series with a program of Andrew’s most treasured 19th Century Virtuoso Works which he interprets with the same musical intelligence required for the works of Pierre Boulez and Elliott Carter.

Brilliant Australian pianist Timothy Young brings his wealth of experience collaborating with internationally renowned soloists and chamber musicians to this demanding series of Salon concerts. Andrew’s sound of unprecedented depth, power and spectrum of tonal colour together with Timothy’s orchestral kaleidoscope of sounds will shed exciting new light on these lighter masterpieces.
