An Evening of sex, drugs and overeating with Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand van Tulleken
Pleasure and danger are intimately linked: whether your weakness is cake, drugs, TV box sets or base jumping modern life presents us with a set of temptations whose harms we can all understand. Over the course of the evening Chris and Xand examine how it’s possible to get the most out of ourselves, addressing a question that has troubled the great thinkers of the ages through all of time: “what can I get away with?”
Their answers come from their own work as doctors and scientists at Oxford, Harvard and University College London – as well as the swamp forests of the Congo, Malaysian religious rituals, hallucinogens from the Amazon, naked swimming in the Arctic Ocean and work in refugee camps and war zones.
The evening will feature slides, video clips, probably an unscripted argument between the brothers and at least one tastefully composed nude picture. Leave the kids at home.
Dr. Chris and Dr. Xand van Tulleken are doctors, researchers, parents and tv presenters. They have made dozens of documentaries on a wide range of subjects for the BBC and other broadcasters.
