In the house of Rossini

Domenico Nordico & Massimo Scattolin

Niccolò Paganini met Mauro Giuliani in Rome in 1818 at the Gioachino Rossini’s house and, once again in Rome, the three musicians established the so-called ‘musical triumvirate’.

The chronicles of the time recount the virtuosic competitions between Paganini and Giuliani, especially aimed at impressing the ladies of Roman high society.

The program of this concert is based on that kind of virtuosity, typical of that historical period. The compositions by Paganini are so Italian, while the one by Giuliani is a bit more Central European, because of his long stay in Vienna.
