KIAZMA Piano Duo brings together the talents and infectious musical chemistry of pianists Tomoe Kawabata and Aura Go.

The pair met as students at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2007, coming together for numerous projects before officially launching as a duo in 2015. Equally at home in two-piano and four-hand repertoire from the Baroque to the present day, KIAZMA is passionate about sharing the unique combination of intimacy, intricacy and dynamism that each genre has to offer.

Paying tribute to Debussy in the centenary of his death, this program delves into the inner worlds of composers who channeled some of their most profound ideas through the intimate four-hand medium and places them in a conversation that reveals fascinating and moving connections. Experiencing the depths of Schubert’s sublime Fantasie in F minor, from its hauntingly beautiful opening theme to its gripping double fugue, continually reaffirms its position at the pinnacle of the four-hand repertoire. Debussy’s En Blanc et Noir, composed during the First World War, is a marvel of intricate interweaving of textures and impactful emotional expression.
