‘Sidorova is simply brilliant’ – The Sunday Times (UK)

Listening to Ksenija Sidorova is a revelation. It’s not just that the accordion can be an instrument of genuine virtuosity, versatility and musicality, it’s also that way Sidorova plays it. Effortlessly producing a dazzling range of colour, mood and emotion, she would dazzle no matter what instrument she used. Sidorova is attuned both to the expressive power of music, but also to its potential for serious fun – music is, after all, the most refined kind of ‘play’. Her approach has delighted audiences around the world, and now it’s our turn as Sidorova performs pieces that touch on the magic of childhood, dance (the tango, naturally) and the pure tactile delight of fingers flying across a keyboard.

From Melbourne Recital Centre’s Director of Artistic Planning, Marshall McGuire:
‘I first heard Latvian accordion player Ksenija Sidorova in Townsville at the Australian Festival of Chamber Music – she dazzled audiences there with her spectacular virtuosity and thoroughly engaging stage presence. It’s often on the rarely heard instruments where we are surprised, challenged, delighted and moved, and in Ksenija’s hands this instrument becomes an orchestra. It’s a perfect way to end a remarkable series of great performers.’
