Since its inception in 1984, Melbourne Welsh Male Choir has become known for its ‘special’ sound and the boldness and ambition of its concert productions.

The choir is steeped in the Welsh Choral tradition but still is proudly Australian. David Ashton-Smith OAM was appointed as Musical Director in 2016.

Teddy Tahu Rhodes has performed with some of the world’s leading Opera Companies, starred in productions of ‘The King and I’ and ‘Sweeney Todd’ and has won many awards. Teddy was guest artist at the 25th anniversary of the Melbourne Welsh Singer of the Year concert in August 2017.

Kate Amos is a Melbourne-born soprano holding a Melbourne Conservatorium of Music BMus (Perf) Honours, and Masters of Music (Opera Performance). She was the Melbourne Welsh Male Choir Singer of the Year in 2016, followed by a Masters in Advanced Vocal Studies at the Welsh International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, Wales.
