Two of life’s great wanderers, Mount Eerie and Julie Byrne have a lot of time for each other.
Phil Elverum, aka Mount Eerie, is a prolific multi-instrumentalist and producer who has worked across countless projects and bands; a writer, photographer, painter and poet. His latest release A Crow Looked At Me was lauded with Pitchfork’s ‘Best New Music’ rating and is a heart wrenching ode to the death of his wife Geneviève Castrée – akin to the recent autobiographical releases by Sun Kil Moon, Sufjan Stevens and Nick Cave.
In perfect accompaniment on a double bill, Julie Byrne’s blend of folk, new age and silence was first praised by Elverum when he saw her play – a deep appreciation mingled through moments of breathlessness.
