Mozart's Oboe

Mostly Mozart is an hour of wonderful music and the chance to catch up with friends over a cup of tea with classical masterpieces performed in the acoustic beauty of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall with musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and guests.

Mozart loved wind instruments, and this glorious quintet for oboe and strings opens this stunning all-Mozart program. His Divertimento No.11 is a very personal work, dedicated to his sister Nannerl on her name-day. Scored for oboe, two horns and strings, this is a rarely heard work, brimming with spirited tuneful displays, a joyous celebration of his beloved sister.
