Ólafur Arnalds

Details

Ambient music mastermind Ólafur Arnalds breaks out of his shell with new album re:member.

A neo-classical wonder who has collaborated with Nils Frahm and soundtracked Broadchurch, Iceland’s BAFTA-winning pianist, composer, musician and producer Ólafur Arnalds returns to present past, current and brand-new material in a new light.

Renowned for atmospheric soundscapes that weave soaring melodies with crunchy beats, the concert features a uniquely wired ensemble of a string quartet, percussion and Arnalds’ playground of pianos and synthesisers. The centrepiece of the show is a generative algorithm device he designed to control two self-playing pianos — acting as one. ‘Each time they are played is a little different, making every performance unique,’ says Arnalds. Don’t miss the most forward-looking concerts of the year when Arnalds brings his raw and sublime music to the acoustic surrounds of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
