Operatic Mozart

Mostly Mozart is an hour of wonderful music and the chance to catch up with friends over a cup of tea with classical masterpieces performed in the acoustic beauty of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall with musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and guests.

Above all, Mozart is renowned for his great operas, and in this performance we get the opportunity to spend an hour in the company of a crazy cast of characters. The plot concerns the attempt of the hero Belmonte, assisted by his servant Pedrillo, to rescue his beloved Konstanze from the harem of Pasha Selim. Mozart himself conducted the first performance of this work in Vienna, and it has become a favourite in opera houses around the world. Today we bring a chamber music version, perfectly suited to the intimacy of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
