Remembering Debussy

Explore a world of reverie and colour

As Melbourne’s leading guitar ensemble, the award winning Melbourne Guitar Quartet (MGQ) welcomes audiences who are curious about hearing new music and established favourites through the rich, vibrant and beautiful sound of the guitar quartet. Embodying a dynamic and theatrical on-stage musical persona, MGQ’s blend of innovative arrangements, technical flair and superb ensemble playing is a joy to experience.

A century after his passing, MGQ continues to celebrate the genius of Debussy despite having never composed a single note for the guitar. The depth of colour and imagination expressed within his works transcends the boundaries of instrumentation. A collection of interpretations and inspirations, MGQ’s Remembering Debussy explores a world of reverie and colour, showcasing a number of premiere performances not to be missed.

The Melbourne Guitar Quartet (MGQ) is dedicated to the development of new chamber music repertoire for the instrument. MGQ uses the guitar family of instruments (classical bass, baritone, standard, treble and octave guitars) producing a rich and broad timbral spectrum for guitar ensemble performance.
