Soliloquy

Genevieve Lacey

Details

An act of speaking your thoughts aloud, oblivious to any listeners

Using Georg Philip Telemann’s Twelve Fantasies for Solo Flute, Melbourne Recital Centre’s 2018 Artist in Residence Genevieve Lacey has created Soliloquy.

This deeply personal live work straddles multiple genres – early music, contemporary dance and visual theatre, contemporary instrumental opera, and involves the participation of several untrained performers of different ages and backgrounds.

Working in collaboration with a creative team directed by Gideon Obarzanek, Soliloquy transforms one solo performer’s innermost musical secrets, fragilities, rages and passions into an amplified, multi-genre experience of engrossed listening, personified by a cross section of humanity on stage.
