Cellist and songwriter VAUDREY plays a unique blend of post-chestral-indie-dub-folk-pop for cello voice and electronics. His work has been showcased in New York City (Subculture, Rockwood Music Hall), Sydney and Melbourne, (Toff in Town, Melbourne Recital Centre) Australia. Born from the inspiration of the late Arthur Russell, VAUDREY’s songs and compositions piece together the essence of popular and folk song orchestrated for hand crafted instruments with modern electronics and production. His 2017 Debut EP, completed in New York City with notable collaborators Stephen Feigenbaum (aka JOHAN), Andrew Wright (Just Blaze, Eminem), David Linaburg (J-COLE) and Andrew Conklin was described as carefully crafted indie gems which combine his sterling cello chops with alt-pop stylings – tonedeaf.com.au

From his ocean side base in Tootgarook, Victoria – VAUDREY also composes for TV and is a mix engineer for Universal Music Australia, In 2015 Richard co-composed, arranged, and recorded the orchestral and string scoring for acclaimed Television Series “Sammy J and Randy in Ricketts Lane” airing on ABC Australia and NBC’s SeeSo in the United States.

VAUDREY also has a notable rap sheet in the classical music world where his life began at The Australian National Academy, before a move to The United States where life was performing in and around New York City, acting as Teaching Assistant to The Emerson String Quartet and playing solo performance art gigs in the Hamptons.

Prior to returning to Australia VAUDREY was Adjunct Professor of Cello at Western Connecticut State University, a member of the Numinous Ensemble and the multidisciplinary performance collective thespacewemake. He has also has performed with The American Modern Ensemble, Ensemble Mise-en, IKTUS Percussion, the S.E.M Ensemble, Indie band all boy/all girl and Mr Twin Sister.
