Tasmin Little & Piers Lane

Details

‘Her playing communicated her certainty in what she was doing, which then allowed her intoxicating blend of power, passion, poetry and drop-dead beautiful playing to conjure a magic that just let the music flow.’ – Herald Scotland

Tasmin Little is one of the most respected – indeed one of the most beloved – musicians on the scene today. The protégé of Yehudi Menhuin, Little shares her mentor’s commitment to new music, and to reaching out to audiences. Her Naked Violin project makes some of her recordings available free online to break down barriers between musician and hearer. Communication is her forte – expressing music with her gift for candour and warmth. Tasmin and her musical partner for this have a long-standing rapport. Piers Lane is no stranger to Melbourne Recital Centre audiences as a soloist of brilliance and insight. Here’s a chance to hear him in chamber music from the Romantic cut and thrust of Brahms to the sinuous grace of Franck’s sonata – music that celebrates the interplay of two equal virtuoso voices.

From Melbourne Recital Centre’s Director of Artistic Planning, Marshall McGuire:
‘The partnership of violinist Tasmin Little and pianist Piers Lane delivers an array of delights and riches, building on their years of playing together, and of a special musical bond. This concert brings together two distinctive and virtuosic musical voices in a program of masterpieces.’

Tasmin Little appears as part of the 2018 Proms Festival and at Let’s Talk Proms, Meet the Artists on Friday 23 March.
