Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Joe Chindamo and Zoë Black
Zoë Black violin
Joe Chindamo piano
Pianist, composer and arranger Joe Chindamo and leading Australian classical violinist Zoë Black form a unique musical partnership. They combine a number of musical styles into a new genre that defies definition but is rather the result of two artists creating a musical dialogue with a combined language.
Inspired by his deep love of the ‘High Baroque’, Joe Chindamo’s composition The Goldberg Inventions features in this performance, made up of a new violin counterpart to J.S. Bach’s timeless masterpiece The Goldberg Variations. It’s a rich and masterly tribute to a classic. At times, the piano and violin lines may sound like a variation within a variation and at others a full extension of Bach’s contrapuntal thinking – but whichever way you look at it, the virtuosic power of Joe and Zoë shine through as a unique contemporary-Baroque hybrid.
This production is part of the following series:
Individually, Joe Chindamo and Zoë Black have forged stellar careers and are amongst the most respected musicians in Australia. As a duo, they have established themselves as one of the most innovative voices in contemporary chamber music
