Ensemble Liaison & Friends is a unique concert series presented by three internationally acclaimed musicians — David Griffiths (clarinet), Svetlana Bogosavljevic (cello) and Timothy Young (piano).
The ensemble is renowned for imaginative programming, setting the trend for brilliant collaborations with leading artists.
John Mackey’s exciting, fast and rhythmic Wrong-Mountain Stomp is paired with Nigel Westlake’s concertino for clarinet Rare Sugar which bounces along a general tone of cheeky playfulness and jazzy spirit with an intensely persistent drive. Paul Schoenfield’s Trio continues in the frenetic merry-making style though derived from Jewish klezmer, Eastern European folk, and a hint of gypsy. Closing with Schubert’s popular piano quintet ‘The Trout’, named after his song which features as the theme for a set of variations in the final movement.
