Chris Cohen

Chris Cohen

Indie songwriting royalty Chris Cohen brings his acclaimed and uncompromising work to Melbourne as part of FOJAM.

Cohen was formerly a member of the experimental noise outfit Deerhoof, but it was with his solo records that he earned a fan in indie hero Mac Demarco, found a collaborator in Cass McCombs and performed with the likes of Ariel Pink’s Haunted Graffiti.

Cohen’s first two records serve as companion pieces for one another, but he changed course swiftly for his 2019 self-titled LP. A deeply personal record, it charts the effects of truths being revealed within his own family and reflects on the freedom that comes from multi-generational secrets being laid bare, stripped of shame and guilt.

Sink into his story and be enveloped by his thoughtful and brave new direction.
