The art of basso continuo is a never-ending exploration of musical possibilities.

Continuo Collective – Samantha Cohen (guitar/theorbo) and Geoffrey Morris (guitars) – celebrates the role of early plucked instruments and the improvisatory art of basso continuo. The ensemble delights in performing rarely heard repertoire featuring plucked instruments from the 17th to the 19th centuries in intimate recitals with early music specialists.

Plucked instruments have been central to Spanish music for centuries, and particularly in song. Mezzo-soprano Sally-Anne Russell joins Continuo Collective as they trace the history of Spanish song from the 16th to the 20th centuries, in a program featuring vibrant and richly coloured works that express irrepressible passion and emotion.
