‘Utterly sublime.’ Boomkat
Oregon-based experimental solo artist Grouper makes dreamy, abstract experiments in sound and space.
The rich vocal harmonies and starkly adorned piano of Grouper have culminated in 11 critically acclaimed albums of beautiful experimentalism. Described as a ‘sonic guru’ (The Guardian U.K.), she is a musician fascinated by silence and transience. Blending evocative field recordings with her reverb-soaked voice and distant piano, her pieces float and fade like vignettes, leaving impressions of fleeting beauty and melodies dissolving into thin air.
Experience Grouper’s intimate, contemplative music in the exquisite acoustic surrounds of Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.
In support, Melbourne based guitarist Bonnie Mercer explores the worlds of unrestrained feedback, hallucinatory white noise and hypnotically evolving sonic guitar experiments.
