Four much loved composers feature in this piano recital of Classical and Romantic works.

Mendelssohn’s Bach-inspired Prelude and Fugue in E minor is a rarely performed piece but one of extreme passion and beauty. Further, the imaginative Corelli Variations and climactic Prelude in D-flat from Op.32 are two of Rachmaninoff’s stunning middle and late period masterpieces. And Horowitz once claimed that the Mozart Sonata in B-flat K333 was Rachmaninoff’s favourite. Liszt’s arrangement of Wagner’s Overture to Tannhäuser provides the rousing conclusion to this concert.
