Lillian Albazi Quintet performs modern arrangements of seminal standards from The Great American Songbook, celebrating the pioneers who laid down the foundations for jazz today.
Presenting their music in a modern framework, Lillian believes this reflects ‘the 21st-century jazz scene, which at its roots is ever-changing, evolving and adapting’.
Joined by pianist Tony Gould, the Quintet explores golden-era swing, Latin jazz, Brazilian jazz and classic 19th and 20th-century ballads.
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Lillian Albazi Quintet
Works by Noble, Dietz, Schwartz, Kern, Fields, Shearing, Weiss, Rodgers, Hart, Harbach, Paul, Raye, Portet and Mercer.
