Quartet & Country

More than just an ordinary concert, Quartet & Country is a much loved project of the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) – one that seeks to find common ground between Western art music and the songlines of this country.

A multi-faceted event comprising two concert programs of top Australian composers and a Q&A session, it celebrates new Australian music written and performed by some of the country’s leading voices including Lou Bennett and Stephen Pigram (4pm concert), William Barton (6pm concert) and the ASQ. See the program tabs for more information on each concert.

Following the 4pm concert and preceding the 6pm concert, join the artists for a Q&A in the Primrose Potter Salon. This event is free however bookings are required. Click the related event on this page for more information and to reserve your seat.

Melbourne Recital Centre’s Artist-in-Residence is supported by The Vizard Foundation and Message Consultants Australia.
