Ensemble Liaison & Friends is a unique concert series presented by three internationally acclaimed musicians — David Griffiths (clarinet), Svetlana Bogosavljevic (cello) and Timothy Young (piano).
Zemlinsky was admired by his contemporary Brahms and Ensemble Liaison prefaces this concert with his delightful Three Pieces for cello and piano. Two wonderful quintets will then form the core of this program. Weber’s Clarinet Quintet is a masterpiece that deserves to be better known, exuberant and delicate, it relishes in the virtuosity of the clarinet. Shostakovich’s Piano Quintet instead expresses itself with an intense and introspective musical language that is emotionally powerful, passionate and uncompromising. An exciting and dramatic evening of passionate music.
