Six Degrees Ensemble is known for its commitment to performing and premiering Australian works.
The unique identity of these native gems shines particularly in programs where they feature in context with important repertoire from the canon of 20th- and 21st-century works, and lesser-known international new music. Six Degrees Ensemble’s distinctive musical style combines guitar, mandolin, piano, percussion, viola, violin, flute and female voice.
The frantic pace of modern life keeps many of us busying along with our heads down. This concert with Six Degrees Ensemble inspires us to look up. The Ensemble’s highly skilled musicians illuminate five diverse multiple-instrument works that reflect on the cosmos above us. Immersive music by Elliot Gyger, George Crumb, Somei Satoh, Hildegard von Bingen and Robert Schumann reveals the multilayered and multidimensional timelessness of the celestial world.
