Event details

From Argentina, exquisite singer Elena Gonzalez and pianist Elian Sellanes unite as Entre Tango Duo in beautiful interpretations of Argentina’s most famous musical form, the tango.

Tango arose in the 1880s in the impoverished port areas along Rio de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay. The music of the under-privileged, it developed where indigenous people mixed with slaves and Europeans, growing out of the musical ingredients they each brought. Now listed by UNESCO on its Intangible Cultural Heritage List, tango has spread across the world.

With a repertoire that also expands to contemporary folk music, Elena and Elian capture the authentic passion, intimacy and the vivid musical flavours of their country.
