We regret to advise this event has been cancelled.

Melbourne Recital Centre cares deeply about the health and safety of its audiences, artists and staff. We acknowledge that the suspension of normal operations in response to COVID-19 is a difficult but essential action for the health of the Victorian public. We are committed to supporting our staff during this time and difficult circumstances. We thank our community for its support during this challenging time.

All ticket holders are entitled to a full refund via their original point of purchase. If you paid via EFTPOS or cash over the counter the Box Office team will be in touch to assist you in receiving your refund. If you purchased online or over the phone, we are in the process of returning your tickets and crediting your card. This will be done automatically, you don’t need to contact us to obtain your refund. We are working through this process as quickly as possible and we thank you for your patience.

Be one of the first to hear the newly crowned winner of the 2020 Sydney International Piano Competition in Melbourne. Once every four years the ‘Olympics for the Piano’ rolls into town. The Sydney International Piano Competition is one of the world’s most prestigious and equally one of the most demanding for young pianists.

The Sydney has established itself over the last 40 years as one of the ‘must-win’ competitions that can propel a young artist’s career into the spotlight. This grueling competition will be held over three weeks in Sydney 8 – 25 July and 32 pianists will be vying for the ultimate accolade of becoming the First Prize winner. The winner will be announced on Saturday 25 July and only then will we know who will give this spectacular recital as the newly crowned victor. Be assured this young artist will be the crème de la crème of the world’s most exciting and emerging talents of the piano. This recital will be part of a national debut tour as the Winner of the 2020 Sydney International Piano Competition.
