Sonata Tragica

Hoang Pham

Presented by Hoang Pham Productions

Hoang Pham returns to Elisabeth Murdoch Hall to perform a program of treasured piano favourites.

About this concert

Beginning with Chopin’s timeless Fantaisie-Impromptu, the creative genius of composers at the piano extends to a celebration of Beethoven’s 250th anniversary with both his Pathétique and Moonlight Sonatas appearing in this program. These masterpieces changed the course of music, and influenced and inspired generations of composers, performers and audiences. They remain as powerful today as when they were created.

Hoang Pham will also premiere a new work he has composed especially for this concert, Sonata Tragica. Schulz-Evler’s dazzling transcription of Johann Strauss’ Blue Danube Waltz concludes this recital.
