Stars Without Makeup

Stars Without Makeup is a true supergroup, featuring three of Australia’s most unique and powerful creative figures.

Individually, Gian Slater, Simon Barker and Barney McAll are recognised as innovators of their instruments. Together they form a trio of virtuoso musicianship, bristling creativity and adventurous spirit.

The trio swerves and moves like a single organism, as melodic songs evolve into hypnotic improvisations with knotted rhythms and swirling electronica. For this intimate show, the ensemble performs songs from its debut album, Grey is Ground, exploring the nature of mystery, curiosity and surrender.

Stars Without Makeup conjures a musical world that is expansive, grooving, lyrical and daring.
