Event details

Rafael Karlen’s The Sweetness of Things Half-Remembered combines exciting improvisation with lush writing for string quartet.

Colourful string textures are beautifully overlaid with the inventive and lyrical playing of award-winning musicians Andrea Keller on piano and Rafael on saxophone. Seamlessly drawing together elements from jazz and Western art music traditions, the concert explores feelings of yearning and lingering reflection.

Two premieres and recent pieces written while Rafael was Composer-in-Residence at the prestigious Peggy Glanville-Hicks House in Sydney are also featured.

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Rafael Karlen
