Concertos for Two Harpsichords

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Accademia Arcadia
Details
Jacqueline Ogeil and John O’Donnell play Bach, Couperin and more on two of Australia’s finest harpsichords.
About the artists
ARIA-finalist Accademia Arcadia was formed by Jacqueline Ogeil in 2001 to explore the trio sonata, cantata, early opera and grand liturgical music genres. Arcadia has performed international premieres of new editions of some of the very earliest operas, including Gagliano’s Dafne of 1608 and Peri’s Euridice of 1600.
About the concert
Jacqueline Ogeil and John O’Donnell, partners in life as well as music, have been performing together for the past 29 years. Internationally renowned as both performers and scholars, they regularly collaborate in the presentation of major Baroque and Classical works. Rediscovering the soundworlds of past eras, this concert features the most substantial works written for two harpsichords: J.S. Bach’s Concerto in C, and the Concerto in A minor by his student Johann Ludwig Krebs. These beautiful and entertaining works will be performed on two of Australia’s finest harpsichords, made by William Dowd and William Bright.
