About Emily Granger & Friends

American harpist Emily Granger effortlessly straddles the worlds of classical and popular music. With past performances including glittering appearances with cellist Yo-Yo Ma, singer-songwriter Sarah Blasko and soprano Renée Fleming, Emily’s considerable talent finds her equally at home in intimate chamber recitals and thrilling performances of daring new works. For this concert, Emily is joined by flautist Jonathan Henderson and violist James Wannan, both of whom are much-loved members of Southern Cross Soloists and acclaimed solo, chamber and orchestral musicians.

About the concert

Virtuosos Emily Granger, Jonathan Henderson and James Wannan present music for the opulent combination of flute, viola and harp. They perform the beloved trios of Claude Debussy and Tōru Takemitsu and an exciting newly commissioned work by Sydney-based composer Tristan Coelho. In Coelho’s work, the intriguing addition of live electronics expands the scope of this unique instrumental combination, awakening us from a magical dreamscape into the digital age. This moving recital of tranquil dreams, pastoral scenes and fragmented recollections is not to be missed.
